The component engineer
OpenA component engineer who catches end-of-life parts early and plans last-time buys and approved substitutes, so a missing part is found long before a repeat order needs it.
An open invitation, not a vacancy: several people can take it at once, and it carries no number until you commit to something specific. This page says what Moduloa hopes for and where a first contribution could start.
Why Moduloa needs this
A capacity subscription is only worth paying for if the product can still be built next year, yet electronic parts go end of life on their maker's schedule. The Manufacturing page says every part on a BOM would be watched and the customer warned at the first notice, but nothing yet says how. The intake standard already carries the hooks: exact MPNs, an alternates policy per line, critical and long-lead flags, and machine lookups for catalogue electronics. What it lacks is a lifecycle field and a rule for what happens when a listed part reaches end of life, including when a replacement needs the customer's approval and when an any-equivalent alternates policy, which the intake already treats as standing consent, covers it.
What you would bring
- Obsolescence management for PCBAs in serial production: change and discontinuance notices, last-time-buy sizing, bridge buys.
- Working knowledge of IEC 62402 or a DMSMS management plan, and of JEDEC-style product change notices.
- Form-fit-function substitution and the requalification it triggers, from consumer grade to automotive grade (AEC-Q100).
- Lifecycle data from parts-intelligence services, and a sense of where that data is wrong.
- Mechanical and catalogue parts as well as chips: connectors, cable assemblies, molded parts.
Tasks that suit you
Each has a plain test for done. Ask to commit to one: name what you will deliver and a date no more than three months after it is accepted. Several people can work on the same task, each with its own deliverable.

Other first deliverables
Each is specific enough that by its date anyone can tell whether it was delivered. Some are a task above in a smaller form. Name one, or a better one.
- A proposed lifecycle extension to the intake standard: the fields a BOM line needs (status, source, date, last-time-buy date) and what the OS should do when one changes.
- A written substitute rule: how a replacement part moves through revision control and the existing alternates policy (none, listed-only, or any form-fit-function equivalent, which is standing consent), and which cases must reach the customer for approval before it ships.
- A lifecycle review of a real BOM you know, anonymized: what a monthly check would have flagged, and how many months early.
What this is, and is not
Not a job, a sourcing contract or a buying mandate: no BOM is in production, no stock is held and nothing is bought, so the seat is for designing the rule in public. On its own a seat carries no pay, no equity and no supplier position, and any paid work is agreed separately.
When your commitment is accepted, it shows on the task and on your seat card, and a first commitment takes the next permanent number on the register, with your name, a link and your date. When the work is delivered in the open you are aboard and a certificate is issued. Nothing is paid for a seat and none is for sale: on its own a seat carries no equity and no supplier position, and any paid work is agreed separately, on its own terms. The entry stays either way: a commitment not delivered by its date is marked lapsed and dated, never removed.
Pick a task that suits you and ask to commit to it, or name your own first deliverable: what you will deliver and a date no more than three months after it is accepted. Write to shk@moduloa.com, or use the link on any task, which opens the contact page with the subject filled in. It does not have to be large. It has to be specific enough that anyone can tell by its date whether it was delivered.
