The first qualified suppliers
OpenMachining, sheet metal, molding, PCBA, cable and sewn-part makers who help write the standard that would let a supplier qualify once and supply any product.
An open invitation, not a vacancy: several people can take it at once, and it carries no number until you commit to something specific. This page says what Moduloa hopes for and where a first contribution could start.
Why Moduloa needs this
Moduloa does not design products or fabricate parts: it is designed to assemble and test what suppliers deliver, so every part on every product would come from someone else's shop. As written, the intake standard v0.1 verifies only the suppliers a customer names, with a registry ID and five confirmation questions, and an unconfirmed line can still go ahead as an estimate. The stated direction is a verified network that any customer's product can draw on, and the standard behind it should be written with suppliers, not at them.
What you would bring
- A shop that makes parts to customer models or drawings: CNC machining, sheet metal, injection molding, PCBA, cable and harness, or sewn and textile parts.
- Real experience of customer audits and first-article inspection, and a view on which ones were worth the cost.
- Willingness to quote from a STEP AP242 model plus typed acceptance criteria instead of a 2D drawing, or a clear reason why that fails for your process.
- Small is fine: the marking requirement is written so a two-person shop can meet it with a label printer and a template.
Tasks that suit you
Each has a plain test for done. Ask to commit to one: name what you will deliver and a date no more than three months after it is accepted. Several people can work on the same task, each with its own deliverable.
- Q-01 Qualification standard v0.1, an outline · Four to six weeks · Ask to commit to Q-01 →
- Q-02 Audit checklist · Two to three weeks · Ask to commit to Q-02 →
Other first deliverables
Each is specific enough that by its date anyone can tell whether it was delivered. Some are a task above in a smaller form. Name one, or a better one.
- Mark a real part or box to the marking requirement (rules M-01 to M-05) with a self-issued GS1 Digital Link or IEC 61406 identifier, since the Moduloa-issued fallback labels need a resolver that does not exist yet, and publish what it cost, how long it took and what did not work.
- Answer the intake's five confirmation questions for one of your own parts and write down where the protocol breaks for your process, starting with the fact that mechanical parts have no pricing API.
- Review the documentation matrix and the acceptance-criteria format from the supplier's side: what would have to change before you could quote from it without a phone call.
What this is, and is not
Not a purchase order or an approved-vendor listing: nothing is being bought yet, and supplier status, once a standard exists, will be earned against it on the same terms as everyone else. On its own a seat carries no pay, no equity and no supplier position, and any paid work is agreed separately.
When your commitment is accepted, it shows on the task and on your seat card, and a first commitment takes the next permanent number on the register, with your name, a link and your date. When the work is delivered in the open you are aboard and a certificate is issued. Nothing is paid for a seat and none is for sale: on its own a seat carries no equity and no supplier position, and any paid work is agreed separately, on its own terms. The entry stays either way: a commitment not delivered by its date is marked lapsed and dated, never removed.
Pick a task that suits you and ask to commit to it, or name your own first deliverable: what you will deliver and a date no more than three months after it is accepted. Write to shk@moduloa.com, or use the link on any task, which opens the contact page with the subject filled in. It does not have to be large. It has to be specific enough that anyone can tell by its date whether it was delivered.
