The first product
OpenA founder or company with a mechatronic product that needs making. Nothing is for sale yet, but a real product is what the first hub should be built around.
An open invitation, not a vacancy: several people can take it at once, and it carries no number until you commit to something specific. This page says what Moduloa hopes for and where a first contribution could start.
Why Moduloa needs this
Moduloa does not design, own or sell products of its own: it is meant to be the layer other companies produce through, on the same terms. So the first hub can only be shaped by real products, and two Stage 0 tasks wait on them: the pilot product category and the first partner and customer hypotheses. Today the intake standard and its worked examples are built around a fictional product, the EX-100, and the tier model is a v0.1 draft.
What you would bring
- A mechatronic product: firmware, circuit boards and mechanical parts in any material, assembled into one unit.
- A design that already works (past EVT), so the open question is how to make it, not how to design it.
- Honest numbers: units a year, how often you would order, how stable the design is, and what quality evidence your customers ask for.
- A build-tree BOM, STEP models and suppliers you can name, or the patience to find out how far you are from them.
- Willingness to have the product discussed in public, by name or anonymized, because everything here is published.
Tasks that suit you
Each has a plain test for done. Ask to commit to one: name what you will deliver and a date no more than three months after it is accepted. Several people can work on the same task, each with its own deliverable.
- C-01 Landed cost line model v0.1 · Three to four weeks · Ask to commit to C-01 →
- W-02 The pilot product category · Two to three weeks · Ask to commit to W-02 →
Other first deliverables
Each is specific enough that by its date anyone can tell whether it was delivered. Some are a task above in a smaller form. Name one, or a better one.
- Run the product through the tier calculator and send the result link, with where the tier it gave felt wrong for your product.
- Build your product's tree in the intake standard's builder (nothing leaves the page) and report each rule or field that did not fit it.
- A one-page product profile that can be published, named or anonymized: category, BOM size, yearly volume, certification needs and where your customers are. It feeds the pilot product category and the sample quote model.
What this is, and is not
Not an order and not a quote: no hub exists, so nothing can be built for you yet, and taking part commits you to nothing. A seat buys no discount, priority or reserved capacity later, because published term T-01 puts every customer on the same pricing model.
When your commitment is accepted, it shows on the task and on your seat card, and a first commitment takes the next permanent number on the register, with your name, a link and your date. When the work is delivered in the open you are aboard and a certificate is issued. Nothing is paid for a seat and none is for sale: on its own a seat carries no equity and no supplier position, and any paid work is agreed separately, on its own terms. The entry stays either way: a commitment not delivered by its date is marked lapsed and dated, never removed.
Pick a task that suits you and ask to commit to it, or name your own first deliverable: what you will deliver and a date no more than three months after it is accepted. Write to shk@moduloa.com, or use the link on any task, which opens the contact page with the subject filled in. It does not have to be large. It has to be specific enough that anyone can tell by its date whether it was delivered.
